Mompreneur rockstar interview with Mom Inspired Grant Winner, Lisa Cash Hanson, creator of the SnuggWugg®

A few of months ago I was able to meet  a woman who has definitely been an inspiration to me, Lisa Cash Hanson. Not only is Lisa a singer, but she is a famous blogger, expert business coach, speaker, author, and an inventor.

She  was also nominated for the Top Baby Shower Gift Ideas for 2014

Lisa, a first time mom to Matilda,  was struggling with something I had struggled with the both of my children…diaper changing. Yes,  we have all been there and know how frustrating and messy {yuck} it can be. But, there is one thing that she did differently than us. Lisa decided to invent something  that would help moms with their diaper changing routine. This genius invention won Lisa a grant from Huggies for her new product called the SnuggWugg®. Watch Lisa’s video below to learn about her product, how she manages being a mom,  and running a business…all at the same time.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Yes, I’m a blogger. I live in Las Vegas have a crazy English Bulldog, Harley, and  a sweet Pitbull named Hank. I’m a first time mom to Matilda, and a cute husband named Chad. I’m also a business coach for women entrepreneurs, speaker and author,  and as you know invented the SnuggWugg®,  a diaper changing pillow with a smart phone option.

How was the idea for the SnuggWugg® developed?

Mompreneur designed The SnuggWugg®
The SnuggWugg®

My daughter is super active. One day my husband had a naked baby on the changing table in a fast crawl get-a-way position. I knew we needed help fast. Shortly after that incident with my husband I took a kick to the chin. One day I thought,”That’s it I’m buying something.” Only there was no product to buy that could solve my problem. So I solved it myself and I created the SnuggWugg,  the only portable diaper changing pillow that is interactive with a plush design, smart phone pocket,  and it’s washable. I’m also in the process of designing my own custom SnuggWugg®  apps.

What was the biggest challenge you faced in developing your product?

The biggest challenge was not allowing myself to get overwhelmed with the process. When you launch anything new there will be plenty of steps along the way where you will be saying, “Wow I don’t have a clue.” I decided early on I wouldn’t allow that to frustrate me. I took one step, then another , then another. Before I knew it I had a prototype and a check from Huggies Mom Inspired Grant program for $15,000.

Any exciting plans for the future of your business?

Yes, we will be launching in retail outlets across the nation hopefully in a few short months. So please do call your local retailer and ask when they are getting the SnuggWugg®  in stock because we can’t wait to get the SnuggWugg® into your hands.

How do you balance your business, being a mom and wife, and not to mention keeping a clean house?

A clean house, what is that? Honestly I don’t. Balance is a shoe that sometimes I use to go jogging in otherwise I don’t even know what balance is. And I’m OK with the chaos because I know it won’t always be so hectic. Besides I’ve discovered I’m one of those odd people who are high functioning in the midst of chaos.

Do you live your life by any mantras that help you to achieve your goals?

Yes,  “This too will pass” (when I’m having a bad day) and “I have everything I need to accomplish whatever I want. No one can stop my dream but me. And I’m going all the way.”

Any tips that you can give to other mompreneurs out there?

Yes, I have many but I’ll focus on this only: Never allow someone else to tell you what you can’t do. Anything is possible I’m living proof. Will Smith was in a very popular movie called “Pursuit Of Happiness” I met the real Chris Gardner, he’s a great man. But the scene I love is when he said, “don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you gotta protect it.”

Lisa, congratulations on your Huggies grant and thank you so much for being featured on Mompreneur Media. I am so excited for you and can’t wait to see your product in one of my local stores.
