The thing is, this new little life has arrived, and it’s changed yours irreversibly. It’s a small tornado, and it whips everything up, and when the dust lands, everything looks different. Life is better, more productive, more vibrant, and certainly filled with more love. It also changes that you finally learn that the high-powered job wasn’t what you wanted – not really. Now you are in a position where you don’t want to go back to that job – your career needs reinvention! So, let’s check out four ways that you can make that particular transformation happen!
Start Again.
The first suggestion for most is that you leave the industry you’re in altogether and start over. You can learn more here about online school and which roles you could consider. You could start all over and go back to the beginning in a career that speaks to you now that you’re a mother. Sure, it’s a long way around, but it’s going to get you a new career that you can balance better with your baby.
Ask For Help
Your current boss may well be a gem. They could be the kind of employer that allows you to scale back on how much work you were always doing and give you a moment to breathe before coming in and doing it all again. They may be able to suggest you move to another part of the business, or you do the same job but with fewer demands and stricter restrictions on overtime. You need to ask for help, and it shouldn’t be a scary thing to ask your employer for a bit of advice. If it’s not going the way that you want, you can still go for option one and start over.
Work From Home
Perhaps you loved your pre-baby job enough that you don’t want to leave, but you certainly want to make changes to the way that you did things! You should consider thinking about working from home. This way, you can run your own schedule and time but still do the job that you truly loved. Working remotely may not spring to mind immediately, but it’s definitely a solution to the problem.
Find A New Boss
You could go for the most extreme option, which is staying in the same job but choosing a business that supports you as a mother with flexible working. The point of your career change is more a location change to a company that will appreciate your ability to work hard while also meeting your needs.
