Tell us a little about yourself:

I am a military spouse, mom to three boys (8, 7, 4) and a total foodie! I probably think about food a little too much but it has served me well in my business. I am a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant and professionally trained Chef.

Where did the inspiration for Nutrition to Heal Yourself come from?

I was living in South Korea with my husband and boys, it was our current duty station. There wasn’t an English speaking holistic wellness center for me to work at. So I quickly realized if I was going to work, I had to create my own. So my business was born.

Who is Nutrition to Heal Yourself for and how does it benefit them?

My specialty is helping busy moms learn to cook simple, healthy meals that will have her losing weight and feeling fabulous, while also satisfying the entire family’s appetite. When a woman has a child, that child needs her to thrive. Eventually, it becomes a habit to put everyone else first, with her own wellbeing coming in last. We start to feel guilty for taking care of our own needs. I facilitate transitioning back to self-love, in practical meaningful steps.

What kind of approximate start-up costs were involved in getting your business from concept to launch mode?

When I decided to become an entrepreneur I was so naive. I had no idea about all the layers involved in being a business owner, I just saw the big picture of working for myself. Oh, there is so much more involved than that! Marketing, tech, and getting the word out that you exist and your business is available. Throw in social media and there is so much to do, but only so much time in a day. I was so naive that I wasn’t even keeping proper accountability of what I was spending money on or if I thought I needed it, I bought it. So I probably spend more than need be because I was a bit clueless and running with it.

If you were to start your business all over again what would you do differently?

Gosh, that is so hard to say. I am still learning every day. I have only had my business about 2 years and with an international move about a year in, I am still trying to grow my business to the level I would like it to be. I live my life with the belief that there are no mistakes, only opportunities to learn and grow. So I am not sure if I would do anything differently.

What is one failure you had as a mom entrepreneur and how did you overcome it?

Struggling with mom guilt. Balancing work, kiddos, being a spouse, and taking care of my own needs. It is hard, there are no two ways around it. My kiddos were very upset when they discovered that they weren’t just getting the summer off. I enrolled them in summer camps so that I could still get my business taken care of. My oldest was very, very upset one evening. He was begging me to let him stay home. That night was very tough. But I knew he would be okay, and this is something I am very passionate about. I love my children, but I also love that I impact other women and help them live healthier, more fulfilled lives.

Please share two of your favorite online tools/resources and what do you love about them?

Trello is a fabulous way to keep me organized. Also, virtual assistants. They are my saving grace!

1 thing you do for yourself to unwind from it all?

A delicious healthy meal. Seriously, it is how I give back to myself and it sets me up for success for the following day.
