Session 4 - Shifting Into New Atmosphere
Welcome to the final session of the Kingdom Mindset Reset! Today, we’re diving into what it truly means to shift into a new atmosphere, both literally and metaphorically. Let’s get started with understanding the concept of atmosphere.
Understanding Atmosphere
An atmosphere can be defined in two ways: literally and metaphorically. Literally, it refers to the envelope of gases surrounding the Earth or another planet. This atmosphere is essential for life, providing insulation, protection, and sustaining various weather patterns.
Metaphorically, an atmosphere reflects the overall mood, tone, and feel of a place or situation. Think about the vibe of a restaurant; you may describe it as having a great atmosphere due to its ambiance. This highlights how important atmosphere is in shaping our experiences.
The Characteristics of Atmosphere
Atmosphere can be influenced by various factors:
- A physical environment, such as the layout of a room or the design of a building.
- A social environment that includes the interactions between people.
- Sensory stimuli, like music, which can dramatically alter the atmosphere.
- The emotional and psychological impressions that an environment leaves on us.
Biblical Foundations of Atmosphere
From a biblical perspective, our atmosphere is shaped by six components:
- Faith and Disobedience: Our relationship with God plays a crucial role in determining our atmosphere. Deuteronomy 28 outlines the blessings of obedience versus the curses of disobedience.
- The Condition of Our Heart: Proverbs 4:23 warns us to guard our hearts, as they are the wellspring of life.
- Words and Actions: Proverbs 18:21 teaches that death and life are in the power of the tongue.
- Quality of Relationships: Matthew 22:37-40 emphasizes the importance of loving God and our neighbors.
- Spiritual Influences: We must submit ourselves to God, as spiritual influences can significantly impact our lives.
- Faith in Our Perspective: Mark 9:23 reminds us that everything is possible for those who believe.
Inspecting Your Atmosphere
It’s essential to analyze the atmosphere you’ve created in your life. Ask yourself: What kind of atmosphere have I produced? Is it rooted in faith or fear? Understanding this will help you inspect the fruit of your life and identify the root causes of your current situation.
Faith vs. Fear
Both fear and faith are beliefs. They represent two ends of a spectrum. A belief is a conviction or view that someone holds to be true. Whether you operate from a place of fear or faith, you must recognize that both are rooted in what you accept as real or valid.
Understanding Belief Systems
Belief systems are interconnected frameworks of multiple beliefs that reinforce each other. They shape our worldview and influence how we interact with the world. If you find yourself unhappy with your current atmosphere, it’s time to reflect on your belief system and consider making changes.
The Power of Thoughts
As Lao Tzu said, “Watch your thoughts; they become your words. Watch your words; they become your actions.” Our thoughts shape our destinies. Recognizing the power of your thoughts is crucial for creating the atmosphere you desire.
Renewing Your Mind
Romans 12:2 calls us to not conform to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This renewal enables us to understand God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will. If we’re not careful, we can easily become ensnared in worldly patterns that hinder our spiritual growth.
The Blessings of Obedience
Deuteronomy 28 outlines the blessings that come from obedience. These blessings include being blessed in the city and in the country, having fruitful crops, and being protected from enemies. However, these blessings come with the condition of obedience to God’s commands.
The Curse of Disobedience
In contrast, disobedience leads to curses, as described in Deuteronomy 28:65-68. These curses manifest as anxiety, despair, and a lack of peace. It’s essential to recognize that if your life does not reflect the blessings outlined in scripture, there may be underlying issues that need addressing.
Finding Rest in Christ
Jesus invites us to find rest in Him. Matthew 11:28-30 encourages us to come to Him when we are weary and burdened. He offers us a light yoke and a call to learn from Him. This rest is not just a physical rest but a deep, spiritual peace that transcends our circumstances.
The Choice of Yoke
We all have a choice to make regarding which yoke we will carry. The yoke of slavery or the yoke of Christ. Galatians 5:1 reminds us that it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. We must choose to stand firm and not be burdened again by the yoke of slavery.
The Empowerment of the Holy Spirit
Walking in the Spirit empowers us to resist the desires of the flesh. When we are led by the Spirit, we are not under the law. This means we can live freely and fully in the grace of God, allowing His Spirit to guide our actions and decisions.
