Minor adjustments to daily habits and rituals can shave a couple of minutes off of time consuming tasks
Finding the appropriate balance between work and personal lives can already be pretty demanding, but when you’re a mother, there’s even more responsibility. The decisions you have to make can have a big impact on your company and family, so every choice needs to be weighed heavily.
Whenever possible, you should look for ways to save time. Whether it’s getting to the kids’ sport practices a few minutes early or taking a short break to reboot during work, every minute counts for busy mompreneurs.
Mastering the art of time management
A few minor adjustments to daily habits and rituals can shave a couple of minutes off of time-consuming tasks and with your kids needing help with schoolwork, those brief moments can add up. Although it may not seem like much, you may notice doing a lot less rushing around both in the house and at work.
Here are a few ways you can better control their schedules:
- Decide what’s important – When you establish important goals early on, it can make decision processes much quicker. Schedules can be worked around your focuses, either in the long or short-term, to ensure nothing bumps into each other. You may be used to multitasking after raising your children, but when the future of your business is also on the line, the stakes are raised and require complete attention rather than split concentration. Sp start thinking about what you can cut out? Do you absolutely need to be in that multi-hour long meeting or can someone take notes? Do you need to drive your kids to every soccer practice or can you work out a carpool schedule?
- Cut out time-wasting activities – You might not realize it, but many of the smaller tasks you occupy yourself with in the office can be eliminated or cut down. Though you might not be able to skip packing the kids’ lunches one morning, there are probably some company obligations that can be cut out. As the head of a company, inboxes can quickly overflow with emails, the majority of them junk. Instead of deleting them, just unsubscribe. This can cut down the time spent sorting emails and keep things more organized while freeing up more time to spend with your family.
- Little helpers – Your children might not be able to assist in the office, but they can still help out at home. Assigning the kids chores can reduce the amount of work you have to do when you get home. No more walking in the front door to a messy house that’s going to take your hours to clean. The less time you have to spend picking up after your children and cleaning the house, the more you can spend with your family or on demanding tasks for work.
