Israel has just as much beauty in the winter as it does in the summer. Check out these things to do in Israel during the winter.
Israel is mostly popular for its summertime flair because the country looks downright breathtaking during summer. What some might not know, is that Israel has just as much beauty, just as much appeal, during the winter.
Here are some things to do in that beautiful country during the winter.
1. Celebrate Hanukkah
The Jewish holiday of Hanukkah can be celebrated anywhere; however, it is a unique experience to celebrate it in the very country where it originated. You can celebrate Hanukkah while walking down the cobble streets of Jerusalem.
An amazing sight to see during are the menorahs, lit throughout the country; they give a vibrant and cheerful atmosphere bound to elevate any spirit.
2. Ski the Slopes of Mount Hermon
Skiing isn’t a sport one would immediately associate with Israel. While it is true the country doesn’t have many ski slopes, but what it lacks in quantity, it makes up in quality. At almost three thousand meters above sea level, and a drop of 460, Mount Hermon is the ideal skiing place for intermediate and beginner skiers.Â
While the mountain is gorgeous throughout the rest of the year as well, it gains a special charm during winter. In addition to skiing, tubing and sledding are also available.
3. Attend the Hula Bird Festival
The Hula Bird Festival is one of the biggest events amongst birdwatchers worldwide. While it is not technically in the dead of winter, usually occurring around mid-November, its sheer entertainment value deserves a spot on this list. It is a bird-watching program guided by Israeli experts, and you will be able to see an amazing assortment of birds breezing through the sky.
4. Indoor Sports
Regardless of how beautiful a country is, sometimes you just want to stay indoors where it is warm. To accommodate this need, Israel has plentiful indoor sports venues. While they may be a drive away from where you are staying, they are well worth visiting. The biggest attraction is probably the iJump Trampoline Park which can be fun for the whole family. In addition to this, Israel offers simulated skydiving, climbing, and many other sports.
It can be quite hard to traverse the ground during Israeli winter. Public transportation is excellent, but unreliable, so I recommend you to use car rental Israelservice instead.
