Mom of two invents the Potty Wiz a potty training chair that  eliminates mess for both boys and girls
Are you ready to take on another week? So am I and to start our Monday off I have the another Mompreneur Rockstar here and her name is Kaylee Wickline. Kaylee is an amazing mom of two who invented the only potty training seat designed to work not only for girls but boys too. Read on to learn about her genius invention and all the amazing features it offers.
Welcome to Mompreneur Media Kaylee! Please tell us about yourself.
Hi! I’m a mom of two young boys, Kaiden and Jace, and the creator of the Potty Wiz potty training chair. I’m also a writer and advocate for women in business.
Where did the inspiration for Potty Wiz come from?
The inspiration behind this product was my son, Kaiden, and his potty training journey. When I started potty training him I discovered that most products on the market are designed to only accommodate girls and don’t accommodate a young boy sitting or standing. When sitting, they make a mess all over the front of the potty chair. When standing, they make a mess all over the back of the potty chair and on the floor.
I designed the Potty Wiz potty chair to eliminate all of these barriers associated with potty training and make it a more autonomous, convenient, stress and mess-free process for both girls and boys.

Any help is very much appreciated!!
How does the Potty Wiz work?
The Potty Wiz is designed to accommodate the unique needs of both girls and boys, unlike other products that only accommodate girls well.
Girls are simpler to potty train and only need a product that is comfortable, safe and secure. Boys, however, are more complex to potty train because they have to learn two separate positions. The Potty Wiz is designed to accommodate these needs of boys by transitioning them from sitting to standing.
When sitting, the unique extension provides more room and an extra barrier of protection to keep a boy’s urine in the bowl. The extension also positions the urine shield away from the child’s body to prevent him from scraping his genital area on it.
When transitioning to standing, the design allows the child to autonomously position his legs around the extension and urinate naturally without the added pressure of learning how to aim so young. When ready to aim, the bowl features a built-in target to make the process easy and fun.
What’s also very unique about the product is the enclosed base and snug design. The base can be used by itself or with the removable seat. When used with the seat, its snug design prevents any urine from getting stuck between the pieces or dripping on to the floor. It’s really the all-in-one ideal product for training little boys and girls.
Tell us about your Kickstarter project and how we could help get Potty Wiz launched?
We have recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to hopefully secure the necessary startup funds for the injection mold and first production run of the Potty Wiz chair.
Interested individuals can support the project by pledging any amount of money in return for rewards, which are either the product or a really cool erasable potty chart. Essentially, you can preorder the product before it even hits the market while helping us get this product produced. The early-bird price is only $32 plus shipping. Those that pledge are also immersed in the journey of brining this product to market.
We need to meet our goal of 60 thousand dollars or we receive nothing. Whether you are potty training in a year or two, or are potty training now, we appreciate your support in bringing this great product to market! Also, it’s important to note that no pledge is deducted from your bank account until if and when the project is fully funded.
Please provide 1 tip or resource that will help a mom entrepreneur with a product idea to create her first prototype.
There are so many tips to share. These tips vary with the type of product you’re creating. For example whether it’s a plastic product or a cloth product, etc. Plastic prototyping can be so expensive (mine was two thousand for unfinished and four thousand for finished) so it’s a really good idea to make sure you’re completely satisfied with your design before ordering a plastic prototype.
I also recommend outsourcing your design work if you don’t think you can do it yourself or if it is a more complicated product or one that needs drawn in CAD software. My tip for everyone is to look on freelance sites for designers and consider hiring abroad. The pricing differences between an American designer and a product designer abroad can be enormous and can make or break an idea (example ten thousand versus 500).
1 thing you do for yourself to unwind from it all?
Haha, is this a trick question? It’s so hard to unwind when you’re trying to start a business. I guess I like to enjoy a glass of wine on the porch after a long day. I also love to work out when I can find the time and really let off the stress of the week.
Share a book or a website you like to browse just for fun
I actually love browsing all the amazing mompreneur stories here on Mompreneur Media and reading about all of these talented, ambitious women who juggle kids and business. I also read through many business-related websites on a daily basis, Entrepreneur, Forbes, etc. I love to read self-help books as well – I find them so inspiring on my journey to become a better person, mom, wife and business owner.
