Standing desks have become the latest trend to hit offices, both in the workplace and in the home office.
While they have been around for a long time, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has helped to boost their profile, with more and more people working from home. People want comfort, and, as surprising as it may be to some people, a standing desk can offer much greater comfort as well as plenty of other benefits.
When we are in the office, we spend a lot of time sitting down. We sit down to eat our breakfast in the morning, sit down on the bus, train or in the car on our commute, spend eight hours sitting down at a desk, before commuting home sitting down and spending our leisure time sittitng down in front of the TV. This creates problems with posture, reduces blood flow, compresses your organs and can make you feel sluggish and lethargic. Opting for a standing desk, or one that can switch between traditional and standing can help to give you a bit more freedom over the positions you work in.
Your desk can be one of the most transformative things that you can buy for your health. After years of sitting down, it may take some getting used to, but once you see how it can help your health and comfort, you will never go back to sitting down. Still need convincing to buy one?
