Things like a fully-organized home office and an extremely comfortable bed make life as a mom and an entrepreneur easier…

Women can run a business and a family at the same time, and they will do it graciously and with passion. However, we are also human beings (not highly-trained robots) and we need a little bit of help here and there.

But, besides the support and love of our life partners, children, and other relatives, you also need a few tricks up your sleeve. Things like a night out with the girls, a romantic night with your significant other, a fully-organized home office, and an extremely comfortable bed make life as a mom and an entrepreneur easier.

Before I start enumerating the amazing benefits of a good bed, I want to highlight the fact that I’m not here to convince you to buy the most expensive mattress there is. My purpose is to teach you about the life-changing differences a quality bed can bring into your life.

The Importance of Sleep in Our Lives

I know that no one understands the value of sleep better than a new parent! But, as a mom who is also running a business, sleep just got that much more crucial.

Here is why you should take advantage of every second of extra sleep you can get:

  • It improves your memory: You can’t successfully run a business if you constantly forget deadlines or blow off meetings with possible customers or partners. A tired brain is a foggy brain that doesn’t access memory the way it should, so make sure to get some high-quality Zzz’s before you step into the office.
  • It strengthens the immune system: Fatigue has been directly linked to a weak immune system, so don’t ignore it. You can’t afford to get a cold with children around the house and customers at your door!
  • Makes you sharper: Besides helping with memory, sleep is also great for improving overall productivity and creativity. You think differently when you’re rested, and your ideas will be a lot more original.
  • Keeps you happy: Not that you wouldn’t have plenty of reasons to be happy, but when you’re rested, the levels of serotonin are at an optimum value. This means fewer mood swings and less stress.

Of course, there are other benefits to mention, but the ones above are quite convincing. Now that you have a bit of insight into why we need to sleep, let’s look at how we can do that right.

Invest in your Quality of Sleep

I know moms don’t get too much shut-eye and this is why you have to make every second count! It takes about 90 minutes to go through a full cycle of sleep (necessary for a good rest) so you must make sure that the moment your head hits the pillow you’ll be in dreamland.

Now, to do this, you will need a high-quality mattress; there’s no way around it! But, by high-quality, I mean a surface that covers all your needs, adapts to your curves and keeps the spine aligned. The firmness should be just right, the temperature exactly how you like it, and the bounciness according to your preferences.

According to Peter Palmero sleep expert from TopMattress.com, there are even beds with two zones, so you and your partner can adjust the settings as you need them. The cool thing is that the industry is a lot more flexible nowadays and it’s a lot easier to buy a good mattress without paying it with an arm and a leg.

Once the bed situation is solved, the next step is creating a temple of sleep. When you sleep, the kids should not be allowed in the room (even during the day) and you must remove any distractions. So, the TV, laptop, tablet, and even phone must be left outside!

Finally, to keep light and heat away, install thick curtains on windows and put the bed away from any heat source. You can also try aromatherapy or special music created to soothe and lull the brain to sleep.
