He may not be in the same line of work as you, but asking for an outsider’s opinion can be very useful at times. His are a fresh pair of eyes with which to view your situation. He could also use his experiences in other areas and see if they can be applied to yours. Not only that, but it is important to keep your partner involved with most big business decisions. Especially if a negative result could impact your family.
Your Kids
Of course, there’s no point asking for your kid’s opinion. They are probably too young to understand what it is you do! But they are incredibly useful as inspiration. Next time they are playing together or with their friends, just sit back and watch them interact. You’ll be seeing a lot of skills that you can take with you into the workplace. Communication, teamwork, and negotiation are usually used in the playground. Watch how your children interact and see if they have anything to teach you!
You Parents
They’ve been there, seen it, and got the t-shirt! Your parents have heaps of experience you can take from. They’ll also have a lot of life lessons you can learn. If your parents were entrepreneurs themselves, then you will be able to get so much useful knowledge from them. If not, no problem! Their insight in life is invaluable. Speak to them about their work experiences. You’ll never know what useful gems of knowledge they will give you. Even if they can’t help you from a business perspective, they will be able to give you as much emotional support as you need. When things get tough, you can always depend on your parents. And you will never grow too old for a big hug from your mom or dad!
Close Friends
We often consider close friends as family, and they are some other people who can certainly help you out with your business. Friends can offer you support by helping you relieve stress. Had a busy week? Call up your best friend and organize a catch-up over a few glasses of wine! Blowing off steam will get you refreshed and ready for work again by the time Monday rolls around.
