It doesn’t matter who you are everyone has dreams and ambitions
It doesn’t matter who you are, deep down, everyone has dreams and ambitions. No one wants to spend their entire life in the exact same place doing the exact same things. And yet, despite this, far too many people seem to spend their time doing just that. We’ve all met people who are constantly talking about the business that they want to set up or the places they want to travel to, and yet never actually bother to do anything to make those things happen. You might even be that person yourself.

The question is why? Why are so many people willing to wait around instead of going after their dream? Well, in reality, there are a number of reasons. Luckily these reasons can be counteracted. Whatever it is that’s holding you back from your dreams; there are ways in which you can reject it and go after what you really want.
Here are some of the most common reasons why so many people don’t follow their dreams.
Comfort
It’s called your comfort zone for a reason! It’s the place where you feel safe and secure, where you know how everything works and almost nothing can ever shock or surprise you. While there is no doubt that this feeling is extremely comfortable, it’s never going to let you get the most out of your life. The joy in life comes from trying new things, getting out into the world, and seeing everything that life has to offer you. If you spend all of your time in your comfort zone then things are going to be easy but they’re never going to get any better.
Fear
Fear is probably the most common reason that people have for not following their dreams. Yet it’s also the one people are the least likely to talk about. If someone has a business that they want to start but never actually does it, there’s a solid chance that the thing that’s holding them back is the fear of falling flat on their face. Fear of rejection is the thing that holds many people back from everything from going for their dream job to asking out the person at work that they have a crush on. But, as the old saying goes, “fortune favors the bold!” Or, to put it another way, “no guts, no glory!” If you really want to get the most out of your life, then you’ve got to be willing to confront what you’re afraid of.
Laziness
Of course, sometimes the reason that many people find themselves unable to go after what they really want is no more complicated than the fact that they simply can’t be bothered to make the effort required. Following your dreams often involves a fair amount of hard work and that’s simply not something that a lot of people are willing to put in, even if it would mean making their lives better overall. The way to escape this is to work to adjust the way you think about things. Pushing away the instant gratification of staying in one place and understanding how much more satisfying it is when you can look back at the results of your hard work is one of the most important things that anyone can learn in this life.
