If you see blogging as a viable source of income, this could be your time to shine. But, there are a few skills you need to learn first
Working online is something more and more people are turning their hand towards. The internet is a very accessible place, after all, and there’s a lot of money to be made here! And if you’re the kind of person who’s always seen blogging as a viable source of income, this could be your time to shine. But, there are going to be a few skills you’ll have to polish off first…Â
If you’re a blogger, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been in the game for quite a few years now, let’s make sure you’ve got your head screwed on right. Because blogging takes skill, and not just anyone can build a successful following on the internet! So, let’s see if your skills match up to the two essential ones below – if not, there’s always a bit of learning you can do.

Knowing How to Market
If you want to run your own blog, you’re going to need to know how to market yourself. If you have a background in running marketing campaigns or managing a professional social media channel, this might be a piece of cake for you! But most people who turn their minds to blogging have no such background and have to learn by doing.Â
You need to be able to sell yourself and your blog. You need to find the right niche to operate in, and the right tribe to market towards. All in all, you need to do a lot of legwork on the research side of things! That’s going to take some time, but even finding the right Facebook group to post a link to your content could be a score of success in the early stages.Â
Knowing How to Write
It seems a given; if you’re going to start blogging, you need to know how to write. You need to be sure you come across clear and cohesive, and that your tone and style makes sense for the niche you’ve chosen. After all, there’s nothing like an upbeat and happy sense of writing to really confuse the mood in a post about grief!

At the same time, you’re going to need to learn how the internet works, and how your writing comes into that. After all, you’ve probably heard of search engine optimization by now, but you’ll need to be able to use it to bring people to and from your blog. Your content needs to shine, your prose needs to be carefully crafted, and you need to spot the ins and outs of the algorithm as well. And that takes a lot of skill to master! But it doesn’t have to be impossible.
Being a blogger takes a lot of time and effort, and there’s no one but yourself to blame if the content is wrong. But of course, you can learn how to operate a blog, and buff yourself up on the skills it takes.
