Finding the balance between your business, family, home, and other interests is a juggling act. But, those who do find balance live a very rewarding life….

It’s never an easy ride being an entrepreneur, but for working moms, it can be especially hard work. Finding the balance between your business, family, home, and other interests is a juggling act that very few find simple or stress-free. You don’t need to try and be a superwoman who never needs any help, and you shouldn’t feel in any way disappointed that you can’t be one. If you get the balance right, you can live a rich and rewarding life, but if you’re struggling with all the demands on your time, you need to rethink how you’re managing; and home care is a good place to start.

Keeping on top of daily chores

Keeping everything ticking over during the week can be a challenge when you have limited time, and unsurprisingly many people find that the chores mount up and turn into a major task for the weekend. The first thing you need to do is work out what everyone else in the household is contributing. Is your partner content to let you take on the housewife role even though you both work full time? Do your teenagers expect clean laundry and home-cooked meals without ever offering to lend a hand? Everyone in your family should take a share of the chores, and do their bit to keep house clean and tidy so you don’t have to sacrifice all your free time.

Outsourcing

Outsourcing is a common concept in business, but you can just as easily apply the same principles to your home life. If you can afford a housekeeper to call in a few times a week, that will take the main homecare burden off your shoulders. When you need to carry out a major cleaning job, call on a professional firm that specializes in the task you have in mind, for example, if you need your carpets deep cleaned, contact `My Technicare, or find an oven cleaning company to give your cooking appliances a spring clean. You could also get a team of cleaners in once a quarter, or whenever you feel the need, to go over the whole house and freshen everything up.

Cost-effectiveness

If you work at home for any reason, as a freelancer, for example, you may well find that the hours you lose trying to complete cleaning tasks yourself would have been more profitably spent working and earning money, of which only a proportion is then needed to pay the cleaners. Get a balance and work out where it is worth investing your time so that you have the most cost-effective result. This may involve hiring somebody for a few hours a week, for example, as otherwise you could get distracted and spend more time cleaning than necessary.

It’s never going to be a walk in the park, running your own business and having a family and home to care for. However, it’s important to manage your time effectively so you avoid exhaustion and chronic stress, so don’t be afraid to get a helping hand.
