The amazing benefits of a self-hosted WordPress.org website
The most exciting part about building on online business is often choosing a name, developing a theme for your website and designing an overall look and feel. Rarely, does anyone get excited about choosing the system that houses their business website or blog. Yet, it’s one of the most important tools in maintaining your online business. The right system can make it easy to customize and manage your site and with that goal in mind it doesn’t get much better than WordPress.org.
WordPress is a free and open source blogging tool and content management system based on PHP and MySQL. WordPress offers WordPress.com, which is a hosted version and because of that carries several limitations. It also offers a self-hosted version called WordPress.org, which is the most popular blogging system in use on the Internet and rightly so.
Its versatility and ease make it appealing to entrepreneurs who may not be as well versed in web design and function but its many features and flexibility make it attractive to those who know their way around the backend of a website.

Customization
One of the most useful aspects of WordPress is the ability to customize it. A plug-in architecture allows you to add a number of features and functions. Want to run a membership site? There’s a plug-in for that. Need to create a form? Want to feature a pricing table in order to charge varying levels of membership? There are apps that will easily allow your website the ability to perform these functions and more with little to no coding.
A template system allows you thousands of ready-made designs that will give your website or blog a professional-looking design even if you’ve never before set up a website. Use a magazine template to give your news site an easy to read layout. Photographers or photo bloggers can display those excellent photos with a photoblog theme that brilliantly highlights photos in a clean design. If your website is going to be primarily a blog, there are numerous templates that can assure your site is as unique as your voice.
Of course if you are comfortable with code WordPress allows you to have complete control over your code so you can modify any theme or create your own. The application’s code is completely open, allowing you total access to modify, tweak, or explore what you want.
Content
Whether you run a website or just a blog it should feature smart content. Managing that content can be just as overwhelming as creating it. Maybe you’ll want to plan content in advance or maybe there are multiple authors contributing work. Fortunately, WordPress can become a customized content management system. Schedule posts to run on a certain date. Allow multiple authors to access and upload their own content. Plug-ins and widgets allow you to display featured posts, add social media toolbars and more.
Adding content to your site has never been easier.
SEO
Even with little search engine optimization knowledge, WordPress gives you an advantage because search engines love WordPress. Even left as is, WordPress, out of the box, comes ready to embrace search engines. Its features and functions guide a search engine through the posts, pages, and categories to help search engines crawl your site and gather the information it needs to include your site within its database. For a little more seo try the All-in-One SEO Pack that will automatically optimize each post.
When you get ready to start your site go with the system that allows freedom to include all of the functionality you want with the ease that no other system offers. Owning a self-hosted WordPress.org website puts the fun into creating your website.

Hello Ikenna and thanks for your comment. I couldn’t agree with you more. There are still many out there using Blogger as their choice of platform. Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Blogger, but for those you are wanting to take their business seriously then WordPress is the way to go.
