Building a business from scratch is hard work, but some people are just cut for entrepreneurship.
If you’re thinking about becoming your own boss, you’ll likely have a list of doubt. In fact, if you didn’t have those doubts it would be a clear-cut sign you aren’t cut out for being an entrepreneur. It’s hard work building a business from scratch, but some people are just destined for the job. Here’s how you’ll know if that’s you.
You’re a Perfectionist
If you like things just right, it’s because you’re striving for perfection. You may feel unchallenged in your current role because you’re always looking for ways to do things better. It may be that you like to always achieve new goals and employed roles don’t always allow for that. As an entrepreneur, you get to set the goals. When building a business, you always have to go one step further than your competitor, so perfectionism comes in handy.
You’re Always in Charge
Being a leader comes naturally to you, so it can be frustrating when you have to follow others. As a leader you’ll be able to manage your workload and staff members and lead the business in different directions when the time calls for it. Although taking charge will be a huge part of business, so will delegating. As your own boss, you’ll find that you won’t have time to do everything. For instance, you may want to outsource fulfillment for better fulfillment costs or perhaps social media management.
You Don’t Mind Taking Risks
Business is full of risks; some that pay off and some that don’t. However, if you’re unwilling to take risks, you could be left behind as your competitors charge forward. Having said that, as an entrepreneur, your risks should be calculated, not blind jumps. You’ll need to do your research and have solid evidence for why the risk is a good idea. If you’re a gambler and don’t tend to think things through, starting your own business could end as soon as it begins.
Monetary Rewards
If you’re sick of being paid a pittance for something you know is worth much more, it may be time to go it alone. Entrepreneurs thrive on the idea of making more money, so if you’re reward driven, being your own boss would suit you perfectly. Of course, being in business isn’t about being greedy, but seeing your business make a profit is a huge satisfaction. So, if you’re fed up of lining someone else’s pocket, it’s a great reason to start your own business.
You Don’t Like Average Hours
The great thing about being your own boss is that you can set your own hours. You don’t have to do the average 9-5 job if it doesn’t suit your other commitments. If you like to live life on your own terms, entrepreneurship is ideal. You’ll still have to be self-disciplined enough to get the work done, but if you’re working from home, you don’t even need to get dressed as long as your work is done.
It’s not for everyone, but if you possess some of these characteristics, being your own boss could be the right track for you.
If working 9-5 isn’t suited to you, perhaps it’s time to climb your own ladder and make your mark on the world. These five reasons are a great way to analyze yourself and decide what’s best for you. Great work @mompreneurmedia
