Hello Shelly and welcome to Mompreneur Media. Please tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up in Orange County Ca, married my high school sweetheart and we have two amazing boys ages 12 and 9. I was an elementary school teacher before becoming an entrepreneur. I currently live in Oxnard, Ca.
How did you come up with such a fabulous idea to create your ShowNo Towels?
I was at the pool with my sons and when it was time to leave and they wanted to change into dry clothes, my oldest son asked me to make him a “tent” with his beach towel so he could change underneath without being seen. While I was holding his “tent” my youngest son wanted me to make him a tent and I couldn’t hold two tents at the same time! I thought there had to be a better way to change my kids in public! That night I awoke at 4:00am with the idea.
What kind of approximate start up costs were involved in getting your ShowNo Towels from concept to launch mode?
No exaggeration… I started my ShowNo Towels company on $0 and 100% faith. I had no money to start this business and the voice of my head said I was a fool!! My heart told me that everything would show up when I needed it if I took one step forward in faith. I did and it did. Glad I listened to my heart!!
Any advice for a mom out there who is too afraid to launch her own product idea or business?
The only time is NOW. Stop trying to figure out the “how”. Your “how” appears in faith. Too many people worry about the how and never start. If you have an idea that you are passionate about – go for it!! Don’t let fear, other people’s opinions, money etc stand in your way. THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY and it might not always look like you think it is going to so stay open, ready to receive and know you are worthy!!
Any future plans for you or ShowNo Towels?
I licensed ShowNo towels to a major towel manufacturer and we will be in big retailers next year! My passion is to become an author and motivational speaker. I love sharing the story of my journey and know that all I have been through is meant to share in order to inspire and teach others.
1 thing you do for yourself to unwind from it all?
Meditate!! Meditation is essential to staying focused, grounded and present. It is a very important practice to me and I can really tell the days when I do it and the days when I skip.
1 fun fact about you
I love woodworking!! One of my favorite things to do is working with wood and power tools!!
