In marketing terms, people will focus so much on digital marketing, they forget about traditional methods.
In a world dominated by digital technologies, you sometimes forget about the old stuff. In marketing terms, people will focus so much on digital marketing, they forget about traditional methods. So, today, I’m bringing you five ‘old school’ marketing tactics that you should use:
Trade Shows
Some business owners are unaware of how effective trade shows are. What better way to market your business than by going to a special event. Trade shows let you set up a booth and entice people to it. You have the chance to talk about and promote your business to thousands of people. During the day, you could have loads of people walking by your booth and checking out your business. Make sure you keep them there, promote your business as best you can.
Press Releases
One of the oldest methods of marketing is press releases. Companies will write a press release whenever they start up, or new things happen. It’s a short article on what your company is announcing. So, if you’ve just started, you’ll talk about what you do, where you’re based, etc. You can then send these press releases to media outlets, and hope they’ll use them. They could use your press release and make an article telling people about your business.
Print Ads
Print advertising is a tried and tested method of marketing your business. You create adverts and get them placed in newspapers, magazines, or bus shelters. The aim of the game is to force your company into the public eye. More people will know about you, and there’s more chance of you getting customers. The key thing to think about here is design. These adverts have to be cutting edge and stick out from the rest. They need to make people take a second and third glance at them.
Postcards
Many people are unaware of how effective postcard marketing still is. For those confused, this is where you send custom postcards straight to people’s doors. It enables you to create an image and have your brand logo on it. Already, you can see this increases brand awareness. Plus, you can write a little note telling people about your business. It’s a great way to get yourself more well known, especially in the local market.
Business Cards
The next ‘old skool’ marketing tactic is business cards. Every business owner should have some business cards created that they can hand out to people. You’re giving people your contact details and also a part of your business. They’ll be carrying around your logo in their wallet. Hand these out at business events, to people you meet, or members of the general public. Of course, your business cards must be of a high-quality. I’ve been handed ones that are made on flimsy bits of paper, and it’s not impressive. Get them done on glossy card and make the design professional.
So, what do you think? Are these tactics good, or what!? If you want to market your small business, I recommend you give these ideas a try.
