Just because the kids are having fun on summer break doesn’t mean the hard work of a mompreneur also takes a hiatus.
To be a businesswoman and mother, there is a not so fun juggling act to accomplish. Summer can be a time full of lessons for both moms and their kids. Here, are four fun ways to spend outdoors time with your children while still getting your work done:
1. Encourage a Mini Business
Your first business venture will always have a soft spot in your heart, so why not introduce your children to an idea that will promote fun and help them learn the value of a dollar? Ask your kids what they’d like to do this summer and see if there’s a way to turn it into a mini-company for them. This way, you’ll be able to give them a tangible example of what you do every day, and they’l have some fun putting together concepts for the business.
If a lemonade stand is too overdone, try something else that puts your kiddo’s skills to work. Are they good at making friendship bracelets or coloring? If you have artistic children, promote a small gallery showing on the sidewalk and invite neighbors to stop by to see their work.
2. Take a Break and Have a Picnic
Even mompreneurs need to eat their lunch, so take a break from the office to spend more outdoor quality time with your children, according to Today. Pack a picnic and set up the spread in a place close to your kids’ daycare if they’re in one over the summer. Relaxing for 30 minutes to an hour with your little ones will not only help relieve you of your “mom guilt” but could also make you more productive for the rest of your workday.
3. Do a Park or Playground Outing
If you work from home and have a good Internet connection on your laptop, take your kids to a park or playground where they can run off some energy. Use their playtime to your advantage by getting some work done while they’re occupied. Enough fun in the sun may mean naps later, providing you with additional quiet time to work on projects for your business.
4. Plan a Reading Campout
Do your kids love to read? Pair the outdoors with their passion for learning by setting up a reading tent in the backyard. Not only will it shield your children from the sun’s rays, but also the tent will allow them to read in a fun environment. Monitor your kids from the deck or indoors by providing walkie-talkies for updates or join them in the tent to do your work.
The summertime work balance for mompreneurs can be tough. Finding a way to get work done and spend time with your children takes inventive ideas and advanced planning. By mixing work with play, you may be able to manage your kids’ school break in addition to your business.

Hey, great share…..
I am thinking to add a deck to my backyard so that My children can have fun over there. Decks can be a great place for families to relax and for kids to play, but there are quite a few considerations that need to be taken into account to make sure they are kid-friendly.
Thanks for sharing this post.
Cheers!!
