Shop with cash back
First of all, do you shop online? If so, make sure you are using a cashback credit card and websites wherever possible. Of course, we’re not suggesting you have a spending spree every time you have lunch, but it makes sense to get cash back for all those things you need to buy anyway. As long as you pay off your card before the interest starts kicking in, it’s a great way of earning a little extra. However, bear in mind that most cash back cards charge you an annual fee. It might not be much, but make sure it is worth your while by getting as much back as possible.
Take a lunch break survey
Surveys are incredibly easy to do, won’t take you long, and can even earn you money. It won’t be a huge amount, of course, but if you manage to complete one or two every lunch break, your earnings will soon start to add up. But which survey site is the best? This page reviews the Opinion Outpost survey and gives it a general thumbs up, but there are plenty more to choose from. It’s advisable to do plenty of research before signing up to any service, of course, but the money you earn could put towards vacation spending money, birthday gift funds, or even buying products for your business.
eBay your old possession
Need to declutter your home? If so, why not make some money out of it by setting up an eBay account and improve your finances at the same time. Spend your lunch breaks adding photos and compelling product descriptions, and then play the auction game. Checking in on your progress every day is easy to do, and if you are pushed for time at home, just bring the products in with you to pack and dispatch on your lunch break at work.
Switch your utility providers
Tired of paying too much for your energy, TV, and Internet at home? If so, put your lunch break to good use by visiting comparison sites and finding yourself a better deal. Just the mere act of swapping your gas and electric company could save you somewhere between $3-500 a year – not bad for something that should take you less than an hour. Just imagine what you could do with that money – it’s a significant percentage of the festive season paid for, and it could also go toward a deposit for a vacation.
